FBI chief says threats from drones to U.S. 'steadily escalating'

FBI director Christopher Wray told a U.S. Senate panel on Wednesday that the threat from drones "is steadily escalating" even as Congress gives agencies new tools to address threats.

Wray told the Senate Homeland Security committee that the FBI assesses that "given their retail availability, lack of verified identification requirement to procure, general ease of use, and prior use overseas, (drones) will be used to facilitate an attack in the United States against a vulnerable target, such as a mass gathering."

FRANCE ASKS GOOGLE TO PULL PHOTOS AFTER HELICOPTER JAILBREAK

If you are responsible for the safety of clients or colleagues, it is worth checking to see what photos of key buildings are available online and factoring that into your risk management plan.

France has asked Google to remove photos of prisons from the internet, including one from which a notorious criminal known as “the jailbreak king” escaped by helicopter this year.

Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet said she had written to the internet search engine to request the removal of sensitive photos, but no action had been taken.

IARPA Wants to Identify Criminals From Their Skin Cells

The U.S. intelligence community is working to build technology to identify people based on markers they leave on the objects they touch.

And this isn’t your run-of-the-mill fingerprint scanner.

Every time you touch something, you leave behind skin cells packed with proteins that are as unique to you as your DNA. And it's those proteins the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity believes could lead to the next big breakthrough in forensic investigations.
