Zimbabwe’s election campaign season took a worrying turn Saturday afternoon when a crude bombing at a speech delivered by President Emmerson Mnangagwa appeared to be an attempt on his life.
At least one person was killed, and 153 people were hurt, 10 critically.

Orlando is first U.S. airport to scan faces of all international travelers
Orlando International Airport will become the first U.S. airport to process all arriving and departing passengers with facial-recognition equipment, officials announced last Thursday.
The verification process, where a camera scans the traveler’s face to compare it to Department of Homeland Security travel databases, takes less than 2 seconds and has a 99 percent match rate, according to CBP.

FBI Releases Study of Pre-Attack Behaviors of Active Shooters

In 2017 there were 30 separate active shootings in the United States, the largest number ever recorded by the FBI during a one-year period.
With so many attacks occurring, it can become easy to believe that nothing can stop an active shooter determined to commit violence.
There is cause for hope because there is something that can be done.
By articulating the concrete, observable pre-attack behaviors of many active shooters, the FBI hopes to make these warning signs more visible and easily identifiable. This information is intended to be used not only by law enforcement officials, mental health care practitioners, and threat assessment professionals but also by parents, friends, teachers, employers and anyone who suspects that a person is moving towards violence.

In the new Google Earth web app, which is available on Chrome only, you’ll see an easy-to-access measure tool down the left-hand side.
